Langs det isnende, vesteuropæiske vinterhavs kyster står et omfattende netværk af frivillige klar til døgnet rundt at rykke ud og redde vildfarne sæler fra olie, plastik og klimaforandringer. Men dyrene forsvarer sig med næb og klør mod de velmenende redningsfolk, som blot må se magtesløse til mens atlanterhavsstormene tager til og dyrenes forhold forværres. FRA DET VILDE HAV er en sanselig dokumentarfilm, der handler om det komplekse møde mellem menneske og natur. Vi tages med på en fascinerende og forstyrrende rejse ind i en verden, hvor mennesker krampagtigt forsøger at opretholde en natur i drastisk forfald.

Along the raw and windy coastline of England, an extensive organized network of volunteers are constantly ready to rescue coastal wildlife from oil, plastic and storms. But the animals struggle against their human surroundings and the well-meaning volunteers must stand to watch as the winter storms are intensified and the conditions for the animals are worsened. FROM THE WILD SEA is a poetic documentary on the complex collision between human and nature. We are taken on a both disturbing and fascinating journey into the emerging Anthropocene Era in which humans are frantically trying to save a nature in decay.
